Fees & Medical Aid Information – Dr. Nel Inc.

Please note that Dr. Nel Inc. is a semi-private practice. Claims are processed only through selected medical aids, and not all costs may be fully covered. Kindly ensure that you schedule your appointments accordingly and make financial arrangements in advance where necessary.

Consultation Co-Payments

When consultations are claimed through a medical aid, the following co-payments apply:

• Initial consultation: R500

• Follow-up consultation: R400

• Pregnancy-related care: A once-off co-payment of R500, payable at the first consultation only

Accepted Medical Aids

We claim through the following medical aids, with specific exclusions:

• Discovery Health (excluding KeyCare, Bankmed Traditional, and Bankmed Basic options)

• GEMS (excluding Beryl and Tanzanite options)

• Bestmed

• Medihelp (excluding MedElect and MedVital options)

• Bonitas (excluding BonCap and BonStart options)

• Polmed

If your medical aid is not listed above, or if your plan falls under an excluded option, please be prepared to settle accounts privately.

If you are unsure whether we can claim through your specific medical aid option, please consult our reception team, who will gladly assist you.

Pregnancy-Related Care

While we do submit claims for pregnancy-related care to selected medical aids, not all medical aids cover the full cost of services such as scans and Doppler examinations. Patients are advised to plan ahead for any potential out-of-pocket expenses.

• For current scan and Doppler fees, please enquire at reception.

• A co-payment of R3,000 is required for delivery, payable by 32 weeks of pregnancy.

• Please contact our rooms for details about the pre-natal package.

Most medical aids will not reimburse the full amount, so we encourage patients to make adequate financial provision.

Payment Methods at Hospitals

• At Jakaranda Hospital, payments can be made via cash or card machine.

• At Montana Hospital and Bela-Bela, all payments must be made in cash only, as we do not have card machines at these locations.

Cash Payments & Statements

If you pay cash for your consultation, a statement will be emailed to you so that you may submit it to your medical aid for potential reimbursement.
